1. The U.S. goes crazy for the MINI E trial
MINI will trial their electric Cooper by leasing 500 cars in California, New York and New Jersey. Despite the $850 US/month fee, more than 9,500 have already signed up for the scheme.

 

 

2. Portugal’s electric-car charging network
Nissan-Renault is to build a ­nationwide electric car-recharging network in Portugal from 2010. Next up are France, Israel and Denmark.

 


3. Carmakers in Detroit no-show
More gloomy U.S. car industry news — Mitsubishi, Suzuki, ­Ferrari, Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and Nissan/Infiniti have bailed on the annual Detroit auto show.
