Autopsy planned in the death of Calgary Zoo's celebrated elephant calf

Only a year old, Calgary's success story baby elephant, Malti, has died from a herpes virus, about which very little is known.

 

The zoologists believe that stronger immune systems will protect the rest of the herd from the virus. Malti, who was barely a year old, was not strong enough to fight off the infection.
