It was 1,500 hours in the making, but Calgarians will get to enjoy every hour for years to come.

TORODE Group of Companies unveiled one of its two monumental sculptures Thursday morning at the 8 West office tower at 903 — 8th Ave. SW.

Calgary Root was designed by world-renowned artist Steve Tobin and features bent steel pipes that soar 24 feet high.

“There is no doubt these sculptures will bring Calgarians pleasure and excitement. They will also enhance our city and empower our citizens to engage in thought-provoking conversation and debate,” Robin Murphy of TORODE said.

The other sculpture unveiled is decorating the area by Hotel Arts Galleria.
