H1N1 flu clinics are re-opening their doors today to Albertans and the province’s deputy medical officer of health says there’s still demand for swine-flu vaccinations.
Provincial officials say about one million people in Alberta have been vaccinated so far, but expect more to get vaccinated in the coming days.
Calgarian Patty McDougall said while the clinics are open again this week, she may opt to wait and get her shot at her family doctor’s office.
“I heard (clinics) will be able to give them out soon ... I think it’s just more convenient for my husband and I to go on our schedule,” she said.
Dr. Judy MacDonald said though health officials haven’t spotted a lot of the virus recently, they still expect to see more of it.
But she said if there is a third wave of the illness, it won’t be as widespread because so many people have already received the shot.
The vaccine will be available in doctors’ offices in the coming days.
Provincial officials say 69 people have died in Alberta after contracting H1N1.
