Not letting a “bump in the road” deter him from his ultimate goal, Cochrane’s own marathon man vows to finish his fundraising goal this year despite a leg injury.

Martin Parnell set out to finish 250 marathons this year to raise $250,000 for the Right to Play charity organization, but a stress fracture in his left shin could take up to five weeks to heal, he said.

“It’s pretty disappointing but I am in it for the long haul and this is just a bump in the road I will have to overcome,” Parnell said.

Parnell said despite the setback, he was on track for his goal, completing 30 marathons in 41 days since he began his quest on Jan. 1.

“The silver lining in this is I already completed the toughest runs I will have to face this year with the weather and conditions. It can only get easier from here.”
