A Calgary company is leaving its mark on the Vancouver Olympics.

"We're very proud to be a part of the project," said Ken Heinbecker, marketing director for Heavy Industries.

It took a truck, barge and crane to get the "drop" from the Heavy Industries shop in Calgary to its new home in front of the Vancouver Convention Centre.

"The goal was to create dialogue of all the dominant features of Vancouver's shoreline," explained Heinbecker.

It will be front and center come the 2010 Olympic games when the centre hosts international broadcasters from across the globe.

The city of Vancouver commissioned the $800,000 piece from the Berlin artist group, Indes Idee, who enlisted the help of Heavy Industries.
