Dance your cares away, worries for another day, let the movie play, down at Fraggle Rock!
More than 20 years after it went off the air, the beloved Canadian television show will get a big screen reboot, with The Hollywood Reporter confirming that Gobo, Sprocket, the industrious Doozers and the giant Gorgs will star in their own movie.
It will be produced by The Jim Henson Co. along with Montecito Picture Co., and the script will be written by Jim Byrkit (Rango) and Alex Manugian, a former Cartoon Network executive. A film based on the radish-eating characters has been rumoured for the past few years.
The Fraggle Rock TV series was first broadcast in 1983 and ran until 1987. Shot in Toronto, it aired on the CBC and was another hit from legendary Muppets creator Jim Henson.
The Fraggles were small creatures who lived in a network of caves, known as Fraggle Rock. The show had an instantly recognizable theme song, many adorable characters and it also tackled issues like the environmental damage (Remember Marjory the Trash Heap?) and prejudice in a kid friendly manner.
