This week, we’re headed east! Matt and Luke are joined by Tristan Cleveland, Metro’s new Urban Compass columnist in Halifax, for a wide-ranging conversation about the state of his city.
Tristan gives us the 40-storey elevator pitch on why Halifax is a great place to live. We discuss the aftermath of the city’s recent municipal election and learn why there’s reason to feel optimistic about Halifax’s future – even if the transit system still needs some work.
Later, Matt and Tristan get all nerdy about property tax assessment policy for a bit. We also explore cycling in Halifax, the state of heritage, why Halifax still kind of hates tall buildings, and the general uselessness of Citadel Hill.
We also give Tristan a chance to brag about the city’s new library, because, seriously, have you seen that thing? It’s majestic.
Finally, Matt asks for beer recommendations.
Vass Bednar will return.
