SHESHATSHIU, N.L. - A man is facing charges including theft of a police vehicle and assaulting an officer after an arrest gone wrong in Labrador.
RCMP say they responded to a disturbance at a residence in Sheshatshiu on Friday night and found about a dozen people who had been drinking.
Police were told someone had been assaulted and when they went to arrest a suspect, they peppered-sprayed him after he became combative.
But police say the man managed to get away and took off in the RCMP vehicle, which was parked outside.
When police located the stolen vehicle, the man drove toward them, prompting an officer to fire a shot at the car - no one was injured.
The accused will appear Monday in court, where he also faces charges of assault, resisting arrest, assault with a weapon and impaired driving.
