TORONTO - Students arriving for classes at the University of Toronto will find bottled water is no longer available at most locations on the downtown St. George campus.

And over a three-year period, sales of bottled water at the Mississauga and Scarborough campuses will also be phased out.

The university is joining over a dozen other campuses that are also putting an end to bottled water sales.

Officials say students have been raising awareness about of the issue of making water a commodity.

On the St. George campus, food service outlets and vending machines will stop offering bottled water.

Water will be available from new fountains and water-refill stations.
