Bus shelter vandals have cost Metro Transit $1,500, according to transit spokeswoman Lori Patterson.
Halifax Regional Police received a report just after 2:30 a.m. Thursday that two men were busting out the glass panes of a bus shelter in the Tremont Drive area on the Bedford Highway.
According to police, further investigation revealed the men had damaged a total of three bus shelters between Flamingo Drive and Kearney Lake Road.
Two males, 21 and 23, were arrested in relation to the incident. They each face three counts of property damage and will appear in court at a later date.
Patterson said one pane of glass was broken from each shelter at a cost of $500 each.
“It’s a chronic problem,” Patterson said about vandalism to bus shelters.
