The Nova Scotia Council For Early Childhood Development is calling on the province to create an early childhood development strategy for children from birth to the age of six.
The declaration came this week in recognition of National Child’s Day, which is Friday, and the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Right of the Child.
In a release, the council said it wants Nova Scotia Premier Darrell Dexter to follow the practices of provinces such as Quebec and Ontario in early childhood development.
For example, the release cites Ontario and an early childhood development report it released that recommends things such as full-day learning for kids aged four and five to enhanced parental leave.
