Marine Atlantic said the ferry Atlantic Vision returned to service Wednesday after the completion of repairs to a hole in the stern.

The vessel was about to tie up in Port aux Basques, N.L., on Tuesday when strong winds pushed it into the dock. The bump tore a hole in the stern about five metres above the water line and scraped the tail fin.

There were no injuries.

Marine Atlantic said the ferry would be returning to full service Wednesday when it makes a crossing from Newfoundland to North Sydney.

Meanwhile, the ferry Leif Ericson will remain in service at least until Thursday to clear any backlog in drop trailer traffic.
