The battle against H1N1 in Nova Scotia hasn’t been cheap.
According to figures from the province’s Health Promotion and Protection Department, as of Jan. 13 the government has spent $12,386,417 on the outbreak.
One of the biggest costs has been the H1N1 vaccine — at just less than $3 million. The figure represents Nova Scotia’s 40 per cent share of the cost the province is sharing with the federal government.
Other significant costs include $5.2 million for ventilators, $1.44 million for supplies needed for the immunization programs and $1 million for masks.
The province reportedly estimated it would spend about $20 million on H1N1.
No new cases
There have been no new cases of H1N1 reported since last month.
