Halifax Stanfield International Airport has been ranked the second-best overall airport in North America.
The 2009 Airport Service Quality ratings place HSIA behind only Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Austin, Texas. In the class of airports receiving under five-million passengers each year, Halifax came first for airports around the world for overall passenger satisfaction. It’s the seventh-straight year the airport has received the top ranking for the category.
In a press release yesterday, HSIA president Tom Ruth said the secret to its success is the people who work there.
“They are our greatest asset and the reason why we continue to achieve worldwide recognition,” he said.
The Airports Council International of Switzerland based the rankings on passenger surveys. In 2009, 140 airports participated in the survey across the world.
Halifax’s scored a 4.39 out of a possible 5 in the survey of 34 separate elements of passenger experience.
