A 33-year-old Halifax man is facing various charges after police say someone attempted to pry open a laundry room coin-operated dryer inside an apartment building.

Halifax Regional Police say they were called to a theft in the 0 to 100 block of Drysdale Road at 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect, who was located a short distance away and arrested without incident.

Scott Anthony Deveau was to appear Thursday in Halifax provincial court charged with attempted theft, mischief and breach of recognizance.
