An 18-year-old Dartmouth male has been charged in relation to five boats being broken into at the Armdale Yacht Club late last year.

Halifax Regional Police say the incidents took place overnight on Dec. 9 with property stolen from each of the boats.

The 18-year-old, who is facing five counts of breaking and entering, will appear in Halifax provincial court on April 20.

The arrest comes six weeks after police issued a warning to boat owners after a spree of robberies at local yacht clubs from November through January.

In a release issued yesterday, police remind owners that with boating season approaching, any valuables, specifically electronics, should be removed from the vehicle when not in use.
