The Halifax Mooseheads got smacked around in Bathurst, N.B., on Friday night. The Mooseheads got crunched 8-1 by the host Titan, falling behind 2-0 in the first 83 seconds and 3-0 in the opening 6:20 and not getting on the board until midway through the third period when they were already trailing 8-0. Brent Andrews, with his seventh, scored with 11:29 remaining to give the Mooseheads some life heading into Sunday's road game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. The Mooseheads were outshot 46-28, although the dangerous-shot edge was just 10-6 for the Titan. Peter Delmas got the start and was pulled after allowing seven goals on 37 shots through 46:20. Mathieu Corbeil stopped eight of nine. The Mooseheads, 13-45-6, are already guaranteed to finish last in the QMJHL and with their lowest win and point total of all-time. They have just four games remaining.

Sheppard, a former first-round pick, has fallen out of favour and has just five points in 44 games. From the Minnesota Star-Tribune: "We've had him in the middle, we've had him on the wing, we've had him in different positions, he's sat out a lot," (Wild head coach Todd) Richards said. "This is an opportunity for him. We've seen flashes of the type of player we think he can become and that's what he has to bring on a consistent basis." http://www.startribune.com/sports/wild/86299582.html?elr=KArksi8cyaiUBP7hUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiUr

The Wildcats fired 44 shots on goaltender Mathieu Corbeil -- including 28 counted as dangerous -- and went four-for-10 on the power play en route to a 7-2 thumping of the Mooseheads. It was the Wildcats' second win in as many days against the Herd. Steve Gillard (strep throat), Matthew Stoddard (healthy), Dylan McGuigan (healthy) and Jessyko Bernard (abdominal) sat out for the Mooseheads. The Mooseheads cannot finish with more than 41 points, lowering their franchise worst of 44 points from 2003-04.
