It’s looking highly unlikely Brian Silverhorn will be back for a third season with the Halifax Rainmen.

Rainmen owner Andre Levingston said the 6-foot-6 sharpshooter contacted him recently about openings but that Silverhorn would have to accept a backup role if he wants to return. It would be unfamiliar territory for Silverhorn, who has been a starter for the better part of two seasons with the team.

“He would not be coming back in the role he was in,” said Levingston. “It’s possible (he’ll be back) but highly unlikely. Silverhorn can probably get a job somewhere else getting a lot more minutes than he’ll get here.”

The Rainmen have already replaced Silverhorn with one-time Portland Trailblazer Desmond Ferguson.

Silverhorn averaged 14.3 points and shot .458 from beyond the arc in an injury-shortened campaign last season
