The epic Olympic matchup between Canada and Russia put a dent in the Halifax Mooseheads’ crowd last night at the Metro Centre.

An estimated 1,500 were in the building while a paid attendance of 4,528 was announced as the Mooseheads lost 2-1 to the Bathurst Titan in overtime, getting the single point needed to keep their faint QMJHL playoff hopes alive.

Some fans in the building, particularly in the luxury boxes, were paying more attention to the Olympics than they were to the Mooseheads, with cheers erupting with each of Canada’s four first-period goals. The crowd further dwindled in overtime.
