Cam Ward will start in goal for Canada in Tuesday's 4:30 p.m. matchup with the United States at the IIHF world championship, head coach Ken Hitchcock announced Monday.

Ward stopped 22 shots in Friday's 5-1 win over Slovenia. Former Halifax Mooseheads goaltender Pascal Leclaire made a bid for the starting gig on Sunday, when he posted a 30-save shutout in a 7-0 victory over Latvia and earned player-of-the-game honours.
