Stockwell Day meets with Chinese counterpart at APEC summit

SINGAPORE - International Trade Minister, Stockwell Day, met Sunday with his Chinese counterpart, Minister Chen Deming, on the margins of APEC summit in Singapore.

According to a statement issued by Day's office the minister raised several issues of concern to Canada, including restrictions on canola imports from Canada and China's H1N1 ban on Canadian pork.

The statement says the two ministers also discussed the current Foreign Investment Protection Agreement negotiations between China and Canada and indicated their commitment to concluding an agreement.

They also the discussed Approved Destination Status, which allows tourism advertising and the organization of package tours from China to Canada.
