YYC Hot Chocolate Fest kicks off to benefit Calgary Meals on Wheels

Calgarians craving hot cocoa will be satisfied during the month of February as cafes around the city compete and raise funds for Meals on Wheels.

For the month of February, special hot chocolate recipes will be served at coffee shops, restaurants, lounges, hotels, and chocolatiers for the second annual YYC Hot Chocolate Fest. A portion of the sales goes towards Calgary Meals on Wheels.

Calgarians will have the chance to vote for their favourite and the winner will be crowned Calgary’s Best Hot Chocolate 2013.

“We had 21 participating vendors and 32 signature hot chocolate beverages last year,” said Calgary Meals on Wheels executive director Janice Curtis in a news release. “This year, we are aiming to make the YYC Hot Chocolate Fest bigger and better.”

The YYC Hot Chocolate Fest begins Feb. 1 at noon at Cococo Chocolatiers at 1313 1 Street S.E.

Hot chocolate lovers can find a full list of vendors and rate the drinks at yychotchocolate.com.
