Calgary council put off a vote Monday on a contentious plan to legalize secondary suites in four inner city wards and near major transit stops city-wide, pending a new report from city staff.
Rather than putting it to an up-or-down vote, Coun. Druh Farell asked to package the proposal she has championed with a broader study into the impacts of opening up more parts of the city to secondary suites.
That report is due back to council in December.
Farrell’s proposal, which also bears the signatures of three other councillors and the mayor, is to legalize secondary suites in Wards 7, 8, 9 and 11 and within a 600-metre radius of LRT and major bus stops across Calgary.
