Aidan Klingbeil’s app MowSnowPros aims to give students a way of making a little extra cash by shovelling driveways for those who want the convenience.

It’s 6 a.m., you’re struggling to get the kids ready for school and juggling phone calls from work when you open the garage to see nature’s most recent gift: a fresh mountain of snow on your driveway. Now one Calgary developer has a simple response for those with no time to break out the shovel and snow boots: an app called MowSnowPros.

It’s described as Uber meets College Pro for snow removal and lawn maintenance.

Aidan Klingbeil ran his own landscaping company through high school and college, and said he got the idea from customers who preferred to pay per snow removal, instead of a monthly contract.

Klingbeil said he’s now applying that concept to MowSnowPros, which will set up clients with the nearest MowSnowPro in their area. Payments are automated through the app, meaning the client doesn’t have to be home, and MowSnowPros bring their own equipment.

“That’s one of the big advantages, if someone is on vacation or at work, it snowed in the morning and they didn’t feel like doing it, or it’s too cold out, they can just log on, click the request button and someone comes along and does it,” said Klingbeil.

He’s hoping it will appeal to students who are looking to make a bit of money on the side.

Currently the app is in it’s testing phase, and Klingbeil hopes to release in for iOS and Android in January. For more information, or to request early access click here
