It’s late. It’s cold. Maybe you’re too drunk to drive, or maybe you’re just too lazy – but the one truth you can’t ignore is that you’re craving an overcooked beef patty from the corner store, but you don’t want to leave to house to get it.
Zack Shapiro doesn’t want you to leave the house either.
On Feb. 4, Shapiro is launching QuikSnax, a snack delivery service which will operate on Friday and Saturday nights to deliver food to your front door – from whichever corner store or fast food restaurant you’re craving. All you have to do is call.
“Like me, you might be lazy and willing to pay the price for your laziness,” said Shapiro. “I’m quite frankly often willing to do that, and other people will be too.”
Shapiro said he’ll charge a flat delivery rate depending on how far the delivery address is from downtown, and pick up anything that doesn’t require more than a few minutes for him to grab.
The goal is for him to make some money on the side while pursuing his economics major. He said it works for his schedule – Shapiro rarely wakes up before 11 a.m. as it is. Like him, his target market is post-secondary students who usually go out on Friday and Saturday nights, and would likely use his services before or after the bar.
For those who are hungry, but not sure what to order, the snack master has some suggestions.
“I’m a huge fan of beef jerky,” he laughed. “It’s one of my guilty pleasures – I spend too much money on it. Also, salt and vinegar chips. I’ll go through a whole bag without even realizing.”
