Calgary entrepreneurs launch virtual moving assistant
Virtuo aims to take care of everything from real estate to mail forwarding

The creators behind startup Virtuo want to help you move on.
And by that, they don’t mean move on your career or your love life – we assume that’s what Tinder is for – but move on to a newer, better home.
The free virtual assistant handles everything from finding a realtor to setting up mail forwarding with Canada Post.
“We’re with them the entire way,” said Nate Edwards, co-founder. “We’re going to be targeting people in the searching phase of new homes, and part of our service is the planning and budgeting of the entire relocation.”
That’s a ton of work to do for free – but Edwards and co-founder Casey Kachur keep the lights on by getting a referral fee from the real estate agent.
Their aim is to create a one-stop shop to help manage costs, time and inform you of often unforeseen expenses.
For example, they walk clients through the pros and cons of hiring a moving company. While many would opt to rent a truck and do it themselves, paying a bit for a mover would help avoid backbreaking labour, and most importantly time.
They’ll set it up, whatever your decision, and once you’ve moved they take care of little things, like changing the utility bills or finding affordable cleaners.
“We have a long history in moving. My grandfather started a moving company and it’s one of the largest in Western Canada,” said Kachur, adding it’s through the company he and Edwards met. “So, between the two of us, there’s 40 years of moving.”
They also started a relocation company in 2012, so Virtuo was a natural next step.
Apps for iOS and Android are in development, but Virtuo can be accessed via desktop at virtuo.com.
