Premier Rachel Notley said it's time to diversify the provincial economy when speaking to an audience of over 300 people addressing the state of the province.

According to Notley, Alberta has the biggest coal emissions in Canada. Which means the provincial government will be making moves to replace coal with natural gas facilities.

The provincial government plans to spell out steps for the conversion later this year.

Education was also on the mind of the Premier, who noted that having Albertans with access to good education is the "single most important investment a government can make."

Notley also announced the province would be extending post secondary tuition freezes another year.
