Legion selects Gordon Moore as president

HALIFAX - A former soldier in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light infantry has been elected president of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Gordon Moore of Elmira, Ont., was acclaimed at the Legion's convention in Halifax.

Moore, 59, is a former president of the Ontario provincial command and has been serving at a national level in various capacities for 14 years.

He served in the infantry between 1969 and 1972.

Moore says the organization will look maintain its role of advocating for the rights of veterans and their benefits.
