Video: Chris Hadfield covers Bowie’s 'Space Oddity'

Not only was Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield packing his bags Sunday — he was picking his now familiar guitar in a reworking of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity.”
Around supper time, Hadfield alerted his 772,482 followers on Twitter that they could catch him on YouTube portraying the fictional astronaut Major Tom.
His 5½-minute rendition of the Bowie sci-fi classic stays pretty much true to the original except he rewrites the final verse to reflect his feelings on: “… Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing left to do.”
(Bowie’s version ends with Major Tom hurtling helplessly into outer space.)
The song plays over footage of Hadfield roaming about the space station, sometimes in synchronicity with the lyrics: “… I’m floating in a most peculiar way.”
Hadfield later tweeted his thanks to the Earthlings who helped with the recording.
