Rare great white shark that visited Newfoundland on the move

ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Lydia the great white shark is on the move again.

The big shark, outfitted with a global tracking device, made news last October when it showed up in Newfoundland's Placentia Bay — a rarity for a great white.

The U.S.-based shark research group Ocearch tagged the shark off Jacksonville, Fla., a year ago.

The group now says that as of today, Lydia is halfway across the Atlantic Ocean — another unusual feat for such an animal.

Her progress can be tracked on the Ocearch website.
