“After the treatments are done, your skin will look normal as opposed to having varied texture or discoloration,” says medical esthetician Miranda Francoeur.
She added that the equipment at Nu Image is known as the Q-Plus laser.
Victor Beyer, owner of Rethink the Ink based in Denver, Colorado, stopped at Nu Image last month to train the staff.
“I sleep and breathe tattoo removal,” Beyer tells Metro. “They literally have the overall gold standard of tattoo removal in that province. Hands down.”
He explained that tattoo ink remains in its liquid form inside the skin, and advanced Q-switched lasers have the ability to break down those pigments into solids for the body’s immune system to digest.
Meanwhile, said Beyer, a ruby tip renders all colours susceptible to the operation.
“Previously in the world of tattoo removal, blues, greens, purples – they were unachievable,” he said.
Another major benefit, said Beyer, is a reduction in the number of required treatment sessions as well as recovery time.
With the availability of this new technology in Regina, Metro asked Beyer to share his top 10 most commonly removed tattoos:

Although getting your high-school sweetheart’s initials scrawled across your chest might have seemed like a good idea the day after prom, Beyer said he sees a lot of recent divorcees booking appointments.
“As soon as they come from the divorce lawyer, I’m the first visit,” he said.
Poison might have reminded you that every rose has its thorn, but hair metal is no longer as relevant as it was in the 1980s.
And how is Billy going to learn to spell when his first word is “Def Leppard?”
3. Lower back

Beyer said lower back tattoos are actually not gender specific.
“You’d be amazed how many guys have (lower back tattoos).”

Don’t be a slave to fashion.
These designs were all the rage around 15 years ago, said Beyer, and now people are just itching to get them off.
Mickey Mouse might be timeless, but your skin isn't. Beyer said he sees a lot of people looking to remove cute cartoon characters.
This one is self-explanatory. Luckily, Francoeur said that Nu Image is also able to prepare poor quality tattoos for cover-ups.
7. Instant regret
Sometimes expectations don’t match up with reality.
As Beyer put it, “Your picture of a unicorn flying over a rainbow is much different than the picture in my head of a unicorn flying over a rainbow.”
8. Meaningless Asian characters
This tattoo faux-pas has almost become a cliché. While Beyer said it’s not quite as common as one might think, he still sees it from time to time.

Permanent eyebrows don’t have to be 100 per cent permanent if you’re not happy with the result.
10. Prison tattoos
It might be hard to land an office job with that teardrop under your eye, unless you happen to have an incredibly handsome mug shot like Jeremy Meeks, pictured above.
Editor’s note: A previous version of this story said that the ink removal technology in Nu Image was unique in Saskatchewan. There are other comparable tattoo removal lasers in the province. Metro has updated the story to reflect this.
