Marriott to open Alberta's first Renaissance Hotel at Edmonton airport

Marriott International will open its first Renaissance Hotel in Alberta this summer at the Edmonton International Airport.

The hotel under construction at EIA was originally constructed under the Courtyard by Marriott brand, but will be redesigned to fit the Renaissance brand, the company said in a statement released Friday.

“EIA’s expanded terminal is a chic, modern and uniquely luxurious addition. We feel that this new Renaissance Hotel will more accurately reflect the unique personality of this modern airport,” said Ali Meghji, director for Platinum Investments Ltd, the company that will own and operate the hotel.

The hotel will offer 213 rooms, and will be specially designed to eliminate aircraft noise.

According to the Renaissance Hotel website, the EIA location will be the third Renaissance Hotel in Canada after Toronto and Vancouver.
