Police were warning drivers on the road Wednesday afternoon to avoid a section of the Bedford Highway, where it appears a van took out a light pole or traffic light.

Halifax Regional Police sent out a tweet at about 1:40 p.m. stating there's a "traffic incident" at the intersection of Bedford Highway and Flamingo Drive.

"Avoid area if possible as traffic is backing up," the tweet reads.

Halifax Regional Police spokeswoman Const. Dianne Woodworth confirmed to Metro by phone that officers were called to the collision shortly after 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

"I don't see any indications of injuries at this point," Woodworth said, adding it appears only one vehicle was involved.

Several drivers also took to Twitter to share photos of the scene, including the one above.
