There has been another drop in the unemployment rate for the London area.
The July report from Statistics Canada gives the rate as 8.5 per cent, down from 9.2 in June.
That June figure was applauded in the city as a positive point for an area that has long suffered from a higher rate of joblessness than its competitors.
Now it’s dropped even further, continuing a trend across the summer. In April, the unemployment rate for the London and St Thomas area was 9.9 per cent.
The nation's unemployment rate ticked up by 0.1 per cent to 7.3 per cent after the economy shed 39,400 workers. Ontario's rate rose by the same margin to settle at 7.5 per cent.
