Is a new Joe entering the race for London mayor? The question will soon be answered.
Ward 3 Coun. Joe Swan has called a media conference for 4 p.m. Wednesday at London Music Hall. An email sent to media Tuesday afternoon didn't reference the mayor's race at all, but Swan has been largely rumoured as a likely contender.
He's set several deadlines in recent months for deciding if he'll make a run for the city's top political seat. This one seems set in stone.
"Just wanted to let you know I am hosting my announcement tomorrow," the Tuesday email said. "Looking forward to sharing the news with you then."
Swan, who works as executive director of Orchestra London, was on council for more than a decade before taking a break in 2003. He returned to public office in 2010.
Swan would be the 13th person on the mayoral ballot in the October election. That list already includes current Coun. Matt Brown and former councillor Roger Caranci.
Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May predicts her party has a shot at winning 12 to 15 seats. But strategic voting could hurt the party.
