Police investigating shooting at South Keys Wal-Mart

Someone shot the Wal-Mart in the South Keys Shopping Centre early Sunday morning, shattering a front window decorated with a huge cartoon Santa Claus.

The Ottawa Police Guns and Gangs Unit said the shots were fired at about 4:30 a.m. They recovered evidence from the scene, but have not yet made any arrests.

The store is open 24 hours a day. Police said they don't think anyone was in the immediate area at the time, aside from the shooter.

Shopper Carole Veilleux said the shooting worries her. “Especially this time of year, especially at Christmas time, I hope nobody got hurt,” she added.

“There's a lot of shootings going around, it's scary here,” she said.

Police said no one was injured in the shooting.
