City to open new economic development centre Tuesday

The city will unveil a new economic development centre, Invest Ottawa, Tuesday morning which will replace the non-profit organization Ottawa Centre for Regional Innovation (OCRI).

Mayor Jim Watson, Jeff Westeinde, Invest Ottawa co-chair, Harley Finkelstein, Shopify Inc. co-founder and chief platform officer, and Rob White, vice-president, mergers and acquisitions for IBM Canada Ltd. are expected to attend the opening at 10 a.m.

The Invest Ottawa office is located at 80 Aberdeen Street in Little Italy.

An open house of Ottawa start-up companies will follow opening speeches and a new logo will also be unveiled.
