Spate of 30 arsons put Gatineau Police on alert

A series of 30 arsons near the Gatineau Hospital have police on alert across the river in Quebec.

The arsons, which occurred between April 1 and May 12, have been mainly lit in blue recycling bins near residences on Ernest-Gaboury, Henri Dunant, Jules Bordet, and Oasis Streets surrounding the hospital.

Gatineau Police say they're worried about the number of incidents, as well as what seems to be an escalation, including cases that heavily damaged children's play structures as well as buildings.

Residents are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity directly to police. Fortunately, they say, no one has been injured in the fires.
