A promoter of last weekend's Escapade Music Festival says $600,000 is missing from the event's proceeds and he’s reported the theft to police.
Michael O'Farrell, vice-president of marketing, said he was shocked to see the money missing Monday afternoon following a "successful," third edition of the electronic dance music event.
He said his partner, Nick Vachon, is also missing and he has not seen or heard from him since 3 a.m. Monday, when the event ended.
"I'm speechless," said O'Farrell. "I don't know why anybody in the right mind would do something like this."
Escapade took place June 30 to July 1 at the Ottawa Stadium on Coventry Road.
Ottawa police would not confirm or deny an investigation is ongoing, but O’Farrell said he expects police will issue an arrest warrant soon.
Couple had taken possession of new Cantley, Que. house when they arrived to find parked car, shoes, young sleeping adults.
