'Very sick' man gets special message from Sens captain Spezza

An ill Ottawa man who had his personalized print of Ottawa Senators players Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson stolen was given a special treat from the team's captain Thursday to make up for it.

Ottawa police said someone used a rock to smash a window of a parked car in a hospital parking lot Tuesday to steal the personalized memorabilia belonging to a "very sick" victim.

Brian Morris, spokesperson for the Ottawa Senators Foundation, said Thursday Spezza heard about the incident and wanted to "make it right." So the captain had a signed jersey, personalized photos of him and Karlsson, and a personalized note sent to the man to lift his spirits while staying at St. Vincent Hospital.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Sgt. Anthony Constantini at 613-236-1222, extension 5635, or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477.
