1. Carp Fair

Celebrate the harvest season this weekend in Ottawa’s west end – the Carp Fair is on from Thursday to Sunday. There will be music, a petting zoo, shows, games, rides and home craft exhibitions. Tickets are $10 for adults or $5 for kids, everything happens at the Carp Fair Grounds.

2. Beau’s Oktoberfest

It’s Beau’s Oktoberfest Friday and Saturday in Vankleek Hill – a party full of music, food and beer. There will be 17 beers to try, activities for kids, local cuisine, and music including Hannah Georgas and The Born Ruffians. A two-day pass is $45.

3. Gem, mineral and jewelery show

See all kinds of jewels, geodes and gems in every colour of the rainbow this weekend at Carleton University’s field house. Starting Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m. Carleton’s earth sciences department will also be hosting events for kids. Tickets are $8 for adults, $2 for teens and free for kids.

4. Chinatown Remixed

Chinatown’s arts festival kicks off this weekend. Over 40 local artists and performers will take to the neighbourhood’s shops, cafés, grocery stores and alleyways on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. All kinds of special live art demos will be taking place that day in the street and in the shops, but art installations last all month.

5. Food Truck Rendez-Vous

Winter is coming and it won’t be long before Ottawa’s street food has to pack it in. Here’s your chance to try 15 of Ottawa’s food trucks in one afternoon at the Food Truck Rendez-Vous at the Former St. Charles Church in Vanier at 135 Barrette Street. For $10 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. you can enjoy live music, Dominion City beer, Clarkstown Kitchen and Bar wine, a kids' zone and local farmer's market vendors.
