Knife-wielding man charged in attempted robbery of Dalhousie Street business

Police say a 24-year-old Ottawa man brandished a knife and tried to rob a business on Monday night.

A 24-year-old man faces robbery charges.

A 24-year-old man is facing robbery charges after he held up a Dalhousie Street business with a knife.

Ottawa police say the man entered a retail financial services location along the 300 block of Dalhousie Street at 8 p.m. on Oct. 17. Police say the man brandished a knife and demanded money.

Police say they were notified during the robbery and patrol officers in the area arrested the man at the scene without incident. They say nothing had been taken and no one was hurt.

Meladul Ahmadzai is charged with robbery, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. He was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 18.
