A Peterborough-area man is in custody facing a charge of murder in the death of his son in the family’s upscale cottage on Buckhorn Lake.
Robin Young, 56, is due to appear in bail court Wednesday to face charges of second-degree murder in the death of Christopher Young, 27, of Stouffville early Sunday morning.
OPP officers and EMS paramedics were called to the waterfront home on an exclusive area of Fire Route 37 in Trent Lakes around 3:20 a.m. Const. Bruce Hanna said Monday he could not confirm media reports that police were called to the cottage by a neighbour who heard a call for help and a gunshot.
“It was a 911 call regarding a family disturbance at that address,” Hanna said. “I believe there was another person there when the officers arrived.”
Forensic specialists were combing through the cottage and officers were canvassing neighbours on Monday. A post-mortem was also being conducted, he said.
Robin Young was arrested at the scene. No further suspects were being sought in the case, police said.
