Woman dead after being struck by vehicle in East York

Toronto paramedics say that the pedestrian was taken to hospital with no vital signs.

A woman was rushed to hospital without vital signs after she was struck at a pedestrian crossing at Cedarvale Ave. at Cosburn Ave. around 1:30 Thursday.

A woman is dead after she was struck by a pick-up truck near the Woodbine Heights area Thursday afternoon, Toronto police confirmed.

Around 1:40 p.m., emergency crews arrived at the intersection of Cosburn Ave. and Cedarvale Ave. after receiving reports of a pedestrian having been struck.

Upon arrival, they found a woman with no vital signs, Toronto paramedics said. The woman was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

She succumbed to her injuries shortly after, police confirmed.

The driver remained on the scene.

The intersection is closed for an investigation. Police are advising commuters to use another route.
