Police investigating torso found in Lake Ontario as a homicide

Durham police are now treating the investigation into the find of a woman’s torso as a homicide.

The torso was found in Lake Ontario by an Oshawa harbour fisherman at around 8:30 p.m. on. Sept. 12, said Const. George Tudos.

Autopsy results given two days later were deemed “inconclusive,” and the cause of death has yet to be determined. Officers said there were signs of trauma on the torso.

Police are urging people to stop posting photographs from the scene on social media for fear of compromising their current investigation.

Investigators are still searching missing person’s reports and ask anyone who has information about the case to contact the Durham homicide unit at 1-888-579-1520.
