Two people are dead following crash on Highway 401 at Warden Ave.

Two people have died following a single-vehicle collision on Highway 401.

Emergency services were called to the scene of Highway 401 at Warden Ave. shortly after 4 a.m. and say the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes. Paramedics say a car rolled over, struck the steel post of the highway sign and the car wrapped around it “almost bending in half.”

The cause of the collision is unknown at this time.

Ontario Provincial Police have not released the gender or ages of the victims.

Eastbound collectors lanes between Warden Ave. and Kennedy Rd. are closed with traffic directed off the road at Warden, according to OPP. The ramp to Highway 401 from Warden Ave. is closed as well as the express lanes at Leslie St.
