The homicide division has been called investigate two cases that left three women dead overnight.

Two separate domestic incidents in Peel region last night have left three women dead, police say.

Police first responded to a residence for a “residential check” on Starhill Cres. near Arabia Gate in Brampton at 10:45 p.m.

“Upon arrival, officers observed two females in distress,” said Peel Police Const. Bancroft Wright. The women were pronounced dead at the scene. The nature of their injuries is not yet known.

A third person at the home, who was not physically injured, was taken to hospital. The fourth occupant of the house was arrested as a suspect in the death of the women.

Police said it is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no risk to the public.

Not long after, an eerily similar scene unfolded in Mississauga. Police were alerted to a report of a stabbing on Marmac Cres. around 1 a.m. and found one woman with fatal injuries.

As with the earlier incident, there were four occupants at the residence where the stabbing took place, and a male suspect was arrested on scene.

“There were two children in the home. One sustained minor injuries and they’re both being taken care of by hospital staff,” Wright said. It was unclear whether the child’s injuries were also stab wounds.

“This is a domestic related incident, so obviously the family members that were present at the time will be interviewed.”

The homicide division has been called in to take over both cases.
