Thousands of reporters from around the world will be filing furiously from the heart of Downtown Vancouver for the 2010 Olympic Games.
Premier Gordon Campbell announced yesterday that Robson Square will serve as the official media hub for the Games, providing wired networking and operating space for an estimated 3,000 writers and reporters.
"These media will work for broadcast, print and web outlets in all corners of the globe," he said in a statement. "There's no better way to promote all our province has to offer than through the eyes of journalists drawn here by the Games."
The 2,600-square-metre facility will also boast carbon-neutral emissions and a zero-carbon footprint, making it the first ever "green certified" media centre in the Games' history.
Its $2.5-million price tag will be covered by the Olympic Games Secretariat's budget as well as through sponsorships.
Robson Square is perhaps best recognized for its domed glass roofs and outdoor skating rink.
