The Mystery Machine, the famous van used by Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the teenage mystery solvers, is up for sale on Craigslist.
The owner posted the ad Monday, asking $2,000 for the 1994 Chevy G10 that was used in the 2009 TV-movie Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins.
The van has been spotted many times cruising around the streets of Vancouver.
Cartoon Network aired the TV-Movie (shot in Vancouver in 2008) on Sept. 13, 2009, the fortieth anniversary of the crime-solving Hanna-Barbera character Scooby Doo.
Owner Andy Rankin, who has had the van for about a year, told Metro Thursday that six people have been involved in a bidding war to snag the truck and even met with an interested buyer Thursday afternoon. At press time, he hasn't sold the Mystery Machine yet.
“Originally, my brother got it off his neighbour who’s in props,” he said. “They were filming the movie and when the movie was finished they were looking to get rid of the van so my brother bought it. He drove it around for two or three years and he left the country so I took over.”
“But it’s just time for a change,” he added. “I got myself a new vehicle and it’s not exactly the best on gas.”
Rankin said the van has gotten lots of reaction from people, with some even renting it out for birthday parties.
The ad listed the vehicle in great shape with a new starter motor, exhaust pipe, muffler and brakes with 95,000 km.
“I’ve also got the documents that it was bought from Mystery Machine Productions,” Rankin said. “And if you’d seen the movie, you can tell for sure.”
